Pitch prices start from just £10 per day, with no long-term tie-in.Market trading is one of the lowest risk methods of entry for start-up enterprises, and if you are selling something that's not already on offer on our markets, we'd love to have you on board. Similarly, if your are an established Trader selling elsewhere in the region and wish to try standing at either Ilkeston or Long Eaton, two of the healthiest outdoor markets in Derbyshire, please get in touch. The following trading lines are currently needed:
What do I need to do to become a trader?To stand on either Ilkeston or Long Eaton markets, you will need to seek the permission of the Erewash Markets Officer, who will assess your suitability to trade based upon several factors, such as whether or not you wish to sell a desired line. We are always wary of the fact that too many traders selling the same product can have a detrimental effect on the market as a whole, and wish to avoid such situations. Also, all traders are required to have £5million public liability insurance via an insurance broker/company, or by becoming a member of the National Market Traders Federation. Traders who wish to sell food or drink items should inform Erewash Borough Council's Environmental Health Officers. The address of the Erewash Markets Officer is: Alternatively, you can now apply online for permission to trade. Applications should be processed within 28 calendar days. If you have not received a response in the given time period, please contact us. Tacit consent will not apply. Apply online for permission to trade Once you have received permission from the Markets Officer and provided a copy of your public liability insurance, you can attend the market as a casual trader. You will need to arrive between 8:00am and 9:00am on the morning you wish to trade, and see the Markets Officer or Warden on duty. If there is a pitch available, one will be allocated to you on a casual basis for the day. As both markets are now self-erect, you may be able to erect your own stall/gazebo. There are some fixed stalls available at Long Eaton, and at Ilkeston a consortium erects stalls for traders who do not have their own for a small additional charge. View a summary of the legislation applicable to trading on our markets.Prices for TradingIlkeston Flea MarketIn addition to Long Eaton’s traditional Markets, the town also hosts a specialised Flea Market held on the market place and the Beaconsfield Site each Tuesday. This market is specifically for second-hand goods. Operating hours are between 8.00am & 3.00pm approx. Charity StallsRegistered charities are welcome to come and stand for free on Saturdays at both Ilkeston and Long Eaton. Numbers are limited to a single charity stall at each market each weekend, and public liability cover is required as with all traders. To book a charity stall, please contact the Market Officer. |
