Florence Nightingale at Erewash PDF Print E-mail

Erewash Museum’s Autumn exhibition tells the remarkable story of ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ – a fascinating display that honours nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale.

The exhibition has been created by The Florence Nightingale Derbyshire Association and Erewash Museum is one of the county’s selected venues to host the display.

Florence, whose family lived near Matlock, is credited with reforming nursing in the mid-19th Century and became known as ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ during her time tending wounded soldiers in the Crimean War.

The exhibition illustrates Florence’s legacy and her lifetime achievements in nursing care, army medical practice, and public health and will be on display from Tuesday, 6th September through to 28th October.
