Residents in West Hallam and Dale Abbey will be going to the polls next week to vote in their local Erewash Borough Council by-election.
With the countdown underway, local people are being urged to use their vote and ensure a big turnout on election day – Thursday 21st January.
Polling stations will be open to voters between 7am and 10pm at West Hallam Village Hall, West Hallam Methodist Church and the Gateway Christian Centre, Dale Abbey. The election count will be held the same evening, following the close of the election.
The by-election has been called following the resignation of Borough Councillor John Fildes, who has stepped down due to ill health. Cllr Fildes represented the West Hallam and Dale Abbey ward on Erewash Borough Council for the last 24 years and served as Mayor of the Borough in the 1990-91 civic year.
The three candidates who are contesting the by-election are:
- Bruce Philip Broughton, Conservative Party
- James Clifford Hedley Dawson, Labour Party
- Gary Hamson, Liberal Democrats
