Shoppers in Ilkeston and Long Eaton can continue to enjoy a New Year bonus that runs right through to the end of March . . . free Saturday parking in four Erewash Borough Council car parks.
The town centre car parks will all remain free of charge for motorists on every Saturday until 27th March as part of the Council’s support for local residents and traders in its two towns.
The car parks included in the free scheme are:
- Town Hall, Ilkeston
- Toll Bar House, Ilkeston
- Town Hall upper level (staff car park), Long Eaton
- New Street, Long Eaton
Pay and Display machines will not be accessible during the free parking and a notice will be in place advising customers.
Councillor Barbara Harrison, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for the Environment, said:
“We launched this Saturday free parking trial back in November to help support the economy of both Ilkeston and Long Eaton town centres in these difficult times and are keen to remind residents that it is still running and is available until the end of March.”
Drivers are reminded that the normal charges remain in force Monday to Friday in the usual way and that the free parking trial applies only to the above four car parks.
Erewash Borough Council also waived charges in all its car parks over the festive season as part of a two-week, free Christmas parking scheme which ended on New Year’s Day.
