Erewash Borough Council has teamed up with the charity Age Concern Derby & Derbyshire as part of the continued drive to help vulnerable people with housing issues in our community.
Age Concern advisor Melanie Naylor is now based at Ilkeston Town Hall and is working alongside the Council’s housing options team to help improve the quality of life for older people in the borough.
The link-up with Age Concern Derby and Derbyshire was launched at the beginning of the year and means the charity can build on its housing options service to help older people access the support and help they need to live at home and to keep active.
Melanie can offer support on a whole range of housing options issues, including moving home, Choice Based Lettings, residential and nursing care, benefits and welfare rights grants, home adaptations and links to other support services.
Councillor Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagement, said:
“We are delighted to ‘host’ Melanie at Ilkeston Town Hall and we have already seen the excellent work carried out by Age Concern in helping older people with housing issues in this borough. It makes great sense that she works alongside our own housing options team and we look forward to a very successful partnership which will be of great benefit to our community.”
Anyone who wishes to contact Melanie can telephone 0845 9072244 ext 3598.
