Erewash residents are being urged to lace up their trainers and get active . . . by signing up for the annual fundraising spectacular Sport Relief!
Erewash Borough Council will stage a Sport Relief Mile at Rutland Sports Park in Ilkeston on Sunday 21st March when people of all ages and abilities can do their bit to raise money for the national charity extravaganza.
Hundreds of local folk are expected to sign up to take part in the event – a really fun occasion when participants can run, jog or walk the one-mile circuit.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said:
“We are delighted to host this Sport Relief event, when adults and children alike can do their bit to raise money by completing one mile in any way they see fit! It is an excellent way to raise vital funds for charity – it also fits in with our drive to promote healthy, active lifestyles.”
The event will open at 10am, with the race starting at 11am. There will be lots of other fun activities during the event, including aerobic warm-ups, martial arts displays, a penalty shoot-out competition and 5-a-side football.
Anyone wanting to take part must register on the official website www.sportrelief.com. Registration is £5 adults (16 and over); £2 children (under 16); or £12 Family (2 adults and 2 children).
