Knights in armour, battle re-enactments and medieval crafts. . . all part of the fun-packed week lined up at Erewash Museum during the Easter holidays. Children will have the opportunity to design their own medieval costumes ready for the Medieval Fair which will be held on Saturday 10th April.
The Three Shires Medieval Society will be at the museum for the fair ensuring lots of medieval fun and games! The Society is one of Derby’s best known groups of historical re-enactors promoting life in the late 14th to early 15th centuries.
Free family fun activities will be held daily between 11am and 3pm throughout the school break, from Friday 2nd to Saturday 17th April excluding Sundays.
Erewash Museum is located a short walk from the Market Place, off the High Street in Ilkeston Town Centre. Admission is free and it is open Monday to Saturday during school holidays. Its regular opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
Exhibitions at the museum are a mixture of galleries and room settings including new exhibitions for 2010. The new attractions include a re-creation of a 1950’s shop based on an original store on Bath St, Ilkeston, a Victorian School Room and a collection of fine art inspired by the Stanton Ironworks.
Erewash Museum opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 2pm and Monday to Saturday during school holidays.
