Your Erewash, your future – have your say!

E-mail Print PDF

Erewash residents are being encouraged to have their say on future development in the borough before consultation closes on Monday 12th April 2010.

Erewash Borough Council has held a number of consultation events throughout March where residents have had the opportunity to give the Council their views on a draft strategy for new development in Erewash. The Core Strategy is vital to the future of Erewash and will lay the ground rules for development across the borough over the next 15 years.

Key issues such as employment, improving communities by strengthening local facilities, regeneration of the town centres, extended transport networks and managing the borough’s greenbelt land are all part of a document called the Erewash Core Strategy.

The Core Strategy document, information leaflets, and questionnaires on the proposals are available from reception in the Ilkeston and Long Eaton Town Halls, shop mobility centres, all libraries in Erewash and also libraries in Allestree, Duffield and Spondon.

You can also access information on the Core Strategy consultation by visiting the council’s dedicated website at www.erewashcouncil.com/idf where you can submit your views electronically.

The current consultation period will finish on Monday 12th April.

Erewash Borough Council has been ‘partnered’ with neighbouring councils Broxtowe, Gedling, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe to form the Greater Nottingham area and all have been working together to drive forward and align their Core Strategies – with the aim of tackling joint and cross boundary issues.

Councillor Geoff Smith, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Regeneration and Planning, said:

“It is extremely important that residents contribute to the Core Strategy and play a valuable role in shaping the future development of Erewash for the next 15 years. You should make your views known before the end of the consultation period on Monday 12th April 2010 by visiting the Town Halls or via our dedicated Core Strategy on-line website.”
