Erewash residents are being urged to nominate those local people who deserve a special ‘pat on the back’ for their selfless and big-hearted efforts to help those less fortunate.
The message comes from Erewash Borough Council which has launched its 2010 Mayor’s Award Scheme, with the deadline for nominations just two weeks away, on Friday 23rd April.
The annual civic honours are designed to applaud and recognise some of Erewash’s most community-minded residents and groups – individuals and groups that work tirelessly for others without expecting anything in return.
The judging panel will be looking for evidence of special qualities and service beyond being a ‘good neighbour’.
Nomination forms are available now from both Ilkeston and Long Eaton Town Hall receptions and can be downloaded from the Council’s website, www.erewash.gov.uk. Full details may also be sent to Susan Dunkley, Civic Officer, Ilkeston Town Hall, Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire DE7 5RP.
Councillor Terry Holbrook, the Mayor of Erewash, says:
“Throughout my year in office, I have been fortunate to meet many people, from all walks of life, who go out of their way to help others. Unfortunately, I am unable to nominate anyone for an Award - so I would urge residents to fill in a form in order that these good citizens may receive the recognition they deserve.”
Nominations must be received by Friday 23rd April. Nominations will be treated in confidence and publicity only given to people who actually receive an award. Awards cannot be made to serving Councillors of the County, Borough or Parish Councils or their employees.
