With the General Election just days away, Erewash Borough Council wants to ensure that voters have all the information they need to cast their vote on the 6th May.
The Council has an elections hotline for anyone who has any last minute questions, while residents with postal votes are urged to follow the instructions in the ballot packs they have received and return them immediately.
Jeremy Jaroszek, Acting Returning Officer for Erewash, says:
“All polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm so that the people of Erewash can vote whenever is most convenient for them, whether before or after work or as part of the school run. Residents will have received their poll card and this tells them where their polling station is.
“As always, there will be staff there to answer any questions or to provide voters with any special assistance they may need to cast their vote.”
Mr Jaroszek, who is Chief Executive of Erewash Borough Council, has also backed national calls for all residents to make sure they use their vote and make their mark by turning out on 6th May.
Chris Hinde, the Midlands Regional Manager for the Electoral Commission, the independent elections watchdog, has told Erewash voters:
“The UK Parliament makes decisions which affect our everyday lives and this is your chance to have a say on who represents you in Westminster, so don’t let anything stop you. Find out more, or visit our ‘virtual polling station / place’ at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.”
