Together again in Erewash

Roll up, roll up and put a date in your diaries . . . the countdown has started for this year’s summertime bonanza Erewash Together!

The popular event returns next month, when the one-day crowd-puller lines up alongside Long Eaton Carnival to make Saturday 19th June a not-to-be-missed day out for young and old.

Erewash Together is organised by Erewash Borough Council and features a wide range of organisations and groups who all join forces to show just what the borough has to offer.

Health sessions, have-a-go sports activities and information stalls will be among the whole range of attractions at the FREE event, which will be held at West Park Leisure Centre on Carnival Day between 12noon and 4pm.

The event was launched last year in Ilkeston and gave an opportunity for the many organisations and voluntary groups working in the borough to promote their skills and services to the whole community.

More than 40 organisations have so far signed up to take part in the 2010 event and others still have a chance to grab a stand or space to ensure they are part of Erewash Together.

Councillor Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagement, says:

“It is a great place for groups both small and large to promote themselves to residents, find new volunteers and supporters and to network with the many other diverse and successful organisations we have here in Erewash.

“The event proved a big success last year with both the groups taking part and the public. So if you want to take part, get in touch with us now.

“And I hope local residents from across the borough will put Erewash Together in their diaries and go along for a great, summer’s day out.”

Visitors to Erewash Together will find the venue split into welcoming ‘zones’, each one reflecting the different aspects of life and opportunities available in the borough. The zones – including Arts, Environment, Safe, Learning and Heritage, Sports, Home and Health and Wellbeing – will offer, amongst other things, information on services, live events, demonstrations and have-a-go sessions.

Some of last year’s most popular stands have already signed up for the 2010 Erewash Together, including sports massage sessions, reflexology and aromatherapy, mini health checks and the family favourite Wildlife Workshop.
