The final countdown has started . . . for the big Erewash Partners Day which will see more than 50 local organisations showcase their services to local residents at this great family event on Saturday 19th June.
The free event has been organised by Erewash Borough Council to run alongside and complement Long Eaton Carnival and will offer free entertainment for people of all ages to run alongside Long Eaton Carnival, making it a festival date for everyone’s diary.
This year’s Erewash Partners event will be held at West Park Leisure Centre between 12noon and 4pm and will once again be the perfect platform for residents to find out more about all the organisations and voluntary groups working across the borough.
In addition, the newly refurbished changing rooms at the Leisure Centre, which are now open, will also be officially opened on the day by the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Robert Parkinson.
As final preparations get underway for the Big Day, some of the wide-ranging attractions at the event have been highlighted:
- Wildlife workshops featuring hands-on animal handling
- Reflexology taster sessions
- Money advice
- Sports massage
- Children’s food health and safety quiz
There will be several ‘zones’ within the Leisure Centre where visitors can wander around – ‘zones’ include Arts, Environment, Safety, Learning and Heritage, Sports, Home and Health and Wellbeing.
Live demonstrations, talks, information stands, health advice and have-a-go sessions will all be on the agenda for the event.
Councillor Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagement, says
“The Erewash Partners Event will be fantastic fun for all the family and will run perfectly alongside Long Eaton Carnival to make Saturday 19th a not-to-be-missed day – full of colour and a real carnival atmosphere.
“We are proud to have organised this event, which is one of the biggest partnership events we stage and we are delighted that it enables so many groups – both small and large - to showcase the wide range of successful organisation we have here in Erewash.”
This will be the second Erewash Partners Event and follows the event’s successful launch last year, when it was held in Ilkeston on Carnival day and attracted hundreds of visitors.
