Still time to enter the Erewash sports weekend!

Give it a ‘Tri!’ Local residents still have time to enter the ever-popular Erewash Novice Triathlon and Junior Aquathlon events this August.
 
Erewash Borough Council’s annual sporting weekend will see the Junior Aquathlon take place on Saturday 14th August before the Novice Triathlon is staged on Sunday 15th August.
 
The closing date for all entries is Friday 23rd July and entry forms are available on the website, www.erewashtriathlon.com
 
Details of the summertime sporting weekend, which takes place at West Park Leisure Centre, Long Eaton, are:
  • Erewash Junior Aquathlon - Saturday 14th August, 1pm start. The event is split into two age groups:
       8-10 yrs: 50 metre swim, 600 metre run
      11-14 yrs – 250 metre swim, 2 km run
      
  • Erewash Novice Triathlon - Sunday 15th August, staggered starts from 7am. The triathlon is open to anyone who is aged 15 years and over on the day of the event.
Novice Triathlon: 400 metre swim, 10 mile bike ride and 5 km run.
 
  • Erewash One Mile Family Fun Run - Saturday 14th August. Open to anyone of all ages, 12noon start. Entries taken on the day between 10am-11.45am.
 
All three events are open to all athletes with disabilities.
 
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said:
 
“Our Triathlon Weekend has become a real sporting milestone that gets better and bigger every year. These two days offer something for everyone, from families and young children through to new and more experienced triathletes. It is a sporting festival and a great example of our continued commitment to promoting healthy and active lifestyles for all.
 
“So if you haven’t already signed up to take part in the Triathlon or the Junior Aquathlon – let’s hear from you! The closing date for entries is just over three weeks away, so there’s still time.”
