Local artist Betty O’Neill has this week launched an exhibition of her previously unseen work in The Lally Gallery at Erewash Museum, a fascinating display that will run until Saturday 9th October.
Betty grew up in Ilkeston and studied at the Bath Academy of Art before teaching in Ilkeston and Nottingham schools. The exhibition explores Betty’s memories of growing up in Ilkeston, a town much changed over the last half a century or so.
The works were produced for her family three or four years ago while she was recovering from a serious illness and were never originally intended for public display.
- Erewash Museum is just off the High Street in Ilkeston Town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Admission is free and its regular opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
