Free PDSA PetCheck for Erewash dog owners

E-mail Print PDF
Dog owners across Erewash have the chance to have their pets checked by an experienced veterinary nurse for free – thanks to a link-up between Erewash Borough Council and the PDSA animal charity.
The project will see the PDSA’s travelling PetCheck unit go ‘on tour’ across Erewash for four days from Thursday 30th September to Sunday 3rd October, when owners can take along their canine companions for a FREE health check.
Also on hand will be the Council’s Neighbourhood Dog Warden Stephanie Moore and Neighbourhood Warden Rachel Tucker, who will be there to give information on the role of the Dog Warden Service as well as general advice on caring for dogs and on issues like microchipping and the importance of cleaning up the dog mess when walking our pets.

The large-scale PDSA vehicle will visit four central locations in the borough – Ilkeston, Cotmanhay, Long Eaton and Sawley – and it is hoped the PDSA nurse will be able to see up to 100 people each day between 10am and 5pm.

Councillor Barbara Harrison, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for the Environment, says:
“This is an exceptional opportunity for dog owners to have their pets checked over by a qualified veterinary nurse - at no cost. We are delighted to welcome the PDSA’s PetCheck team to Erewash, it is something our Neighbourhood Dog Warden and the Neighbourhood Wardens have been keen to organise and they will be there to help out at these four events.

“The PDSA’s veterinary team will offer a first class health check so I strongly encourage local dog owners to take this chance to have their pets examined.”

Among the things which dogs could be checked for are their weight, teeth, eyes, ears, coat and general fitness.

Details of the free PDSA PetCheck visits, which are all 10am-5pm, are:
  • Ilkeston Market Place - Thursday 30th September
  • Cotmanhay, old Community Centre car park, Beauvale Drive - Friday 1st October
  • Long Eaton High Street - Saturday 2nd October
  • Sawley Memorial Community Hall, Draycott Road - Sunday 3rd October
