A limited number of tickets have gone on sale this week for a first ever late-night ghost hunt at the notoriously haunted Erewash Museum – a must-do event for anyone with a serious interest in the supernatural!
Erewash Borough Council has organised the night of ghostly goings-on and spooky surprises on Friday 15th October, when participants will join a special investigation team at the historic building from 8pm through to 1am.
Mysterious happenings are a regular occurrence at the Museum, which is just off the High Street in Ilkeston, and staff have had to grow accustomed to some strange happenings at the building over the years. The Museum is based in Dalby House, a late Georgian house with Victorian extensions. It was both a family home and school accommodation before becoming a museum in the 1980s.
There will be the opportunity to gain access to unseen areas of the building, including the Georgian cellar and visitors will also be provided with professional ghost hunting equipment to record any activity.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“This event is not for the faint-hearted as there’s the real possibility of experiencing some unusual activity. We have always been aware that Dalby House has a reputation of being haunted and this is a unique opportunity to join a professional and experienced investigation team. It is for over-18s only and I would urge anyone interested to get their tickets as soon as possible as we expect this to be a sell-out.”
Tickets are £25, which includes a guided history/ghost tour of the Museum, a late-night ghost hunt and paranormal investigation, an opportunity to use ghost-hunting equipment and controlled ‘contact experiments’. Refreshments will also be provided.
Pre-booking is essential and anyone interested should contact 0115 907 1141 for more details.
Erewash Museum is just off the High Street in Ilkeston Town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Admission is free and its regular opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
