The site of the old Stanton Ironworks, just to the south of Ilkeston, is privately owned by Saint-Gobain. The site is now largely derelict and unused and therefore could be redeveloped over the next 20 years, subject to any proposals brought forward by the landowner being acceptable. When a site like this is redeveloped and used for something new, we call it ‘regeneration’.
The information here tells you why we want to see the regeneration of the site. It also identifies the challenges and opportunities at Stanton and explains our reasons for working with the current owners of the site.
Saint-Gobain organised a public exhibition about their proposals in June 2010. Please visit their website at www.newstanton.co.uk to find out more.
