Stanton Regeneration Working Groups
1.1 Technical Working Groups have been set up to better understand issues for the Stanton site. These are: Housing & Social Infrastructure, Economy, Transport, Built Environment and Natural Environment. There is strong officer representation from the Council on these groups. The Groups have been set up to provide technical information on the Stanton Regeneration site to inform the Saint-Gobain masterplan and planning application.
1.2 The Built Environment Working Group is considering key issues such as the masterplan framework, land form contributing to and arising from remediation, design including community safety, architecture, heritage and archaeology, green framework, waste management and sustainability.
1.3 The Natural Environment Working Group is considering key issues such as remediation, landscape, ecology/biodiversity, green infrastructure, long term management of public spaces, water issues e.g. flooding, and sustainability.
1.4 There have been two meetings of the Built Environment and Natural Environment Working.
1.5 Attendees at the Groups: Saint Gobain representatives; ATLAS (Advisory Team for Large Applications); Derbyshire County Council Officers (Ecologist, Archaeologist, Conservationist/Urban Designer, Landscape Architect, Highways); Derbyshire Constabulary Designing Out Crime Officer; Derbyshire Wildlife Trust; Environment Agency, British Waterways, Erewash Borough Council Officers (Contaminated Land, Environmental Health, Planners, Green Space and Street Scene, Community Safety).
1.6 The Economy Working Group is considering key issues such as the amount of employment land/number of jobs; quality and type of employment – inward investment/local needs; distribution of employment within the site; skills gaps, training and education; phasing.
1.7 The Economy Working Group has met on two occasions.
1.8 Attendees at the Group: Saint-Gobain representatives; ATLAS (Advisory Team for Large Applications); Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire County Council Officers (Economic Development and Regeneration); Erewash Borough Council Officers (Planners, Economic Development); Erewash Partnership; Job Centre Plus; East Midlands Development Agency; Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership; Learning Skills Council.
1.9 The Housing and Social Infrastructure Working Group is considering key issues such as the likely population profile of residents of Stanton; the quantum, mix, and tenure of housing provision, and the likely social infrastructure requirements including schools, play areas, community safety, leisure, health, community centres and shops.
1.10 The Housing and Social Infrastructure Working Group has met twice.
1.11 Attendees at the Group: Saint-Gobain representatives; ATLAS (Advisory Team for Large Applications); Derbyshire County Council Officers (Education); Primary Care Trust; Fire; Police; Combined Churches; Erewash Borough Council Officers (Planners, Housing Strategy, Green Space and Street Scene, Community Safety, Leisure)
1.12 The Transport Working Group is considering key issues such as public transport, cycling, pedestrian, bridleways, highways and rail.
1.13 The Transport Working Group is the longest serving Working Group and has met regularly over a period of 18 months.
